We decided to use the metaphor of a lighthouse for recovery. These are some of the ideas that were put forth. I'm so glad this became the title song for the album. – JD

Darkness lurks for those adrift
Waiting for their lives to shift
Slowly awakening from the deep
The mountain to climb is always steep

As the sun glistens and my body feels warmth
Help my boat get safely ashore
To never crash on the rocky ridge
I see a rainbow of colors that shine and never dwarf

I see the light it’s bringing me home
It’s gone again and I’m on my own
And I wish I could see that light
so I could never be alone

the beam of light engulfs and guides me
encouraging a safe journey politely
with my higher power beside me
the journey thus far has been a turbulent one
recalling the nights that have been far less than fun
a journey to find who I should become
swells of the tempest I can no longer outrun
and not to be lured in by the siren’s songs
wanting to live this journey not short but long
temptations sweet sound with
snags and lures to trap us all around

when signals get crossed where’s the beacon’s focus
even though in ancient times
the inner lighthouse was a beacon that clears the mind
from sea monsters to pollutants that bring us downs
is the beacon of light enough to turn us around
as happy and scared as I was at sea
